Rick Perry

Rick Perry is cocky!

At the GOP presidential debate in Tampa Florida on September 12, 2011 Rick Perry was confronted for his use of an executive order pushing young women in Texas to be given the Gardasil vaccine against the HPV virus.  The result was a windfall for the large pharmaceutical company Merk & Co.

Just one year prior, Perry received at least $23,500 in campaign contributions from Merck, including $5,000 in 2006.

When confronted by Michelle Bachmann Governor Perry retorted:

“If you’re saying that I can be bought for $5,000, I’m offended.”

This egotistical response skirts a serious accusation that strikes at the heart of "special interest" politics which has divided Washington.  The result is a dead beat Government that has squabbled over the debt ceiling crushing consumer confidence.

Governor Perry's cocky response comes two days prior to the Wall Street Journal article which reported that 15% of Americans are living below the poverty line and the average yearly household income has dropped to 1996 levels (when adjusted for inflation).
